A week ago I posted on my Facebook page that I was going to give juicing a try. No, I wasn't announcing that I was going to try to improve my marathon time through illegal drugs. Have you seen the women that use that stuff? Ugh, so gross!
Anyways...I was just displaying my most recent purchase on my quest to lead a healthy lifestyle.
So we bought this thing.  We got it at Bed, Bath & Beyond. It was $149.99 but we were able to use a 20% off coupon so it wasn't as painful. And one the way home from we bought some fruit and veggies too.

Here are the results of our first shopping trip.
  • Pineapple
  • Gala Apples
  • Strawberries
  • Carrots
  • Ginger (Of Course!)
  • Cucumbers
  • Kale
  • Blackberries

We decided to give juicing a try for a few reasons. I've been trying to drop some lbs for 3 weeks and I already hit a plateau on my low carb diet. Boo!
Yes, we watched the movie Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead and got some inspiration from that. Although we don't plan on spending 60 days doing nothing but juicing anytime soon.
Lastly, I was starting to get alarmed at the thought of not eating a lot of fruits and veggies on my low carb diet. So now we supplement our diet with juices a few times a day.

Here's what we are doing.
  • Juice for breakfast and a juice for mid-morning snack.
  • Normal low carb lunch.
  • Normal low carb afternoon snack. (If desired)
  • Lean protein and juice for dinner

So far it has only been a week but it has helped me break through my plateau. So I'm excited about that.

Here are some random facts about my first week of juicing.
  • Juice just tastes better in a running glass. True Story!
  • Juice is just more fun in a zombie glass. Especially if you are drinking a mix that looks like brains. :)
  • Beets are just earthy tasting no mater what other veggies you put in there.
  • Grapefruit will make any juice super tart. And give you sour-face when you drink it.
  • Sometimes you just have to wing it! We bought 2 books with juicing recipes but sometimes you just gotta freestyle and come up with your own stuff.

See below for some of the pictures and recipes we tried this week.

Juice Number 1
  • 12 Small Strawberries
  • 2 Apples
  • 1/2 Cucumber
  • 1/2 inch Ginger

Juice Number 2
  • 1/2 Cucumber
  • 1/2 Apple
  • 1/2 Bundle of Kale
  • 1/2 inch Ginger
  • 1/2 Pineapple

Juice Number 47
  • 1/2 Small Watermelon
  • 3 Oranges

Warning! This recipe makes A LOT of juice! So plan on cutting down the portions, sharing the juice, or storing some for a couple hours later.

Ok so we really didn't make 47 different kinds of juice this week, but we did make a lot. Unfortunately, I was too lazy to do a good job of documenting pictures and recipes to share with y'all. ::Insert Sad Music Here::

I did juicing too last year. As a food lover, it became a hard decision for me since I had that decision all of a sudden and the transition was rough. It feels like my mind was telling me to start the juicing, but my body was not yet ready for it. It was one week of pure juices. Though some juices taste really bad, some are delicious! Juicing has a lot of benefits in our body!
